These days are very special for me and for
all people who are from my town. The reason is because the 7th of December
is celebrated our patron saint celebration. This celebration honours the labour
of “La Virgen del Castillo” since 1691. In 1642, she helped sixty one soldiers who
were from Yecla, which is my town. All of them could return save and sound to
their homes.
Nowadays, much people from Yecla join up in
a brotherhood and carry out different activities. One of those activities is
carry many flowers to the Virgin, who is called María Inmaculada. Another one
is shut anywhere with an arquebus and gunpowder. I really like the smell of
powder that the streets have after that activity. I am very proud of our
traditions and I would like you to visit it.
